Year after year, getting in shape is one of the most popular resulutions you can make. According to statistics, 21.4 percent of people choose Lose Weight and Healthier Eating as one of the most important goal for the new year, followed only by Life Improvement (12.3%) and Financial Decisions (8.5%). *research conducted by Statistic Brain Research Institute on January 2018.
Unfortunately though, despite our good intentions, approximately 80 percent of our New Years Resolutions fail by the second week of February and, only 9.2 percent of people end up achieving their goals (Source: BusinessInsider.com). We are empowered and excited by moving into the new year but when the harsh reality of life sets in… well, we don’t feel that excited anymore, am I right? Suddenly we realize how tired, overworked and burned out we are.. and going to the gym is the last thing on earth we feel like doing…so, goodbye gym and welcome back fast food.
When it comes to Health and Fitness, commit to eat clean and exercise is no joke; truth is there’s so much more than eat chicken breasts and show up at the gym once or twice. My Health & Fitness Journey began only one year ago when -drunk with the new year enthusiasm- I made the resolution to drop some wight and change my lifestyle. Of course, I had absolute no idea what I was putting myself into, but I soon learned that the base of a good and successful journey consists in building a strong and sustainable mind set.

Excerpt from Health & Fitness
Fitness Tip #10 (Diet) – I would learn to cook a new healthy meal every week. I have to eat; so, why not have one night every week as my “experiment night”.
Knowing the difference between bad and good food, and knowing the nutritional value and its function is one thing, but knowing how to create good meals from good food is an entirely new skill.
If you love food like I do, then why not learn how to create your own healthy meals? Learning to cook healthy food is such a valuable skill. If you have knowledge of seven to ten healthy recipes, you will never be at a loss for ideas when it comes to meal choices, and the more things you try, the better you will become at cooking. Eventually, you will have the confidence to experiment with different ingredients and even come up with your own healthy recipes.
If I had never cooked or didn’t have knowledge of cooking clean, healthy, and nutritious food before, this is what I would do –
I would make a list of foods and things that I enjoy eating, not taking into account whether these foods were good or bad for me. I would then pick one from the list; let’s say, for example, cheeseburgers. I would then look it up in a search engine and add one of the following words to it: healthy, Low-fat, low-sugar, Fat-burning. If you’ve not looked for healthy recipes like this before, you will be surprised at the ideas you will find.
If you haven’t got it already, I have another freebie for you. I’ve created seven healthy recipes that you can use right off the bat. You will see from the pictures that I make all of them myself in my own kitchen; and I regularly make these meals for myself and Mrs Jims Health And Muscle. Most of these are a spin on my favourite foods. So, I can eat burgers, meatloaf, chilli, pizza, and not feel guilty about it. Check it out if you need some inspiration:
It’s a good idea to pick one night every week to try out a new recipe. This way, if you plan to make something, and it all goes horribly wrong, it’ll only be one night that you have to deal with it. On the other hand, if your cooking experiment is a screaming success, you have a healthy recipe in the bank that you can use another time or even allocate an evening every week to cook this on. For instance, Monday nights could be your “Thai chicken curry night”, or you could have “Green veg and chicken breast stir-Friday”… See what I did there?
This skill can be very valuable, and if you are not used to cooking or are daunted by it, or even if you don’t like the idea of it, I can tell you that you will probably be surprised at the feeling of accomplishment that comes from your creations in the kitchen. Cooking good food can become a real passion; so, give it a go.
