Surfing the net in search of tips and tricks on how to create the perfect Summer Reading List?
I usually take advantage of social book sites as YourNextRead.com and Goodreads, the massive community of book lovers. But with 5,100,000 users, browsing the infinite lists and finding the right book can be hard.
This time I’m going for an easy and extremely practical tactic: “Judge ’em By The Cover“.
I know, I know.. Never judge a book by its cover. But despite how true it might be, the reality of the book industry is that the majority of readers use the cover of a book as a deciding factor in whether or not they should buy the book. With millions of books we can choose from, the first “sales pitch”Β is the cover.
Sure the content is essential, but how you present it maybe be equally important so as to grab the attention of your target and a well designed cover is the first assurance of high quality.
Sloppy and unappealing fonts, pixelated images or bad illustrations will turn off the reader right away. If it is not striking enough to draw attention, it will be passed over. At least by me.
So this is how I’m gonna play it. I will add to my Summer Reading List only those books with fancy and well-designed covers and see how it goes.
And you? Do you judge a book by its cover? Answer the poll and share your tips and tricks for the best summer reading list.
Happy Reading!
I definitely judge the book by its cover! I don’t let it to be my sole deciding factor when buying a book, though. But of course, I tend to ignore books with ugly covers, haha!
Building my Reading List only by judging the cover is challenging though π
As in, without considering the summary or anything? Yeah, that would be pretty challenging.
Nope π just the cover π
Whoa. I am so interested to know how that will go.. (and maybe I’ll try that next month, haha!)
I would love to see how that works for you π This could be a TAG π
Yes! It totally could! I would definitely participate π
